Born the heir to an underwater triad, Yiu never had a chance for a normal childhood. Despite this, she found friends in an explosions maniac and some guy with terrible music taste in New Garden City and proceeded to spend the rest of her life attached to them at the hip. Several attempts were made on her life throughout her childhood, but between the watchful eye of her people and the Ang twins' questionable hobbies, she rarely ever faced serious danger.
Regardless of her relative safety, Carnelian's suggestion to attend Del Sol College for their respective fourth year projects appealed to her for several reasons: first, Del Sol's greenhouses may not have been breaking any records, but they were certainly impressive for a smaller school; second, escaping the reach of her particular circle of triad drama would allow her to delve into her interest in alchemy further.
Del Sol proved a perfect match for her interests. The smaller student body allowed her reputation as both an alchemy genius and more-than-willing tutor to spread quickly, and within a month, she was bartering her academic skills for snacks and dishes she would be hard-pressed to get her hands on back home. If a few of her clients suddenly found themselves embroiled in triad drama, well, that had nothing to do with her.
